Obtain active electronic-notary registration
Hold the underlying Nevada appointment and satisfy its oath and bond requirements. Complete the required electronic-notarization course and submit the electronic registration with the additional $50 fee.
Wait for approval and active status. Performing or offering electronic notarization without active registration can lead to suspension or revocation.
Register the technology and electronic signature
Describe the technology or device used to create the electronic signature and provide the other registration information required by the Secretary of State. Use a solution that meets Nevada identity-proofing, credential-analysis, communication, and record requirements.
Report changes to email, county, name, signature, or technology within the statutory period and pay any applicable change fee.
Remote audio-video acts
Nevada permits an actively registered electronic notary to perform authorized acts using compliant audio-video communication. Follow the rules for identity, presence, location, document handling, and the electronic certificate.
The notary remains responsible for compliance even when a third-party solution provider supplies the platform. Stop if communication, identity, or document integrity fails.
Electronic journal and permitted fees
Maintain the required electronic journal and associated audio-video information in the form and for the period required by Nevada law. Protect access credentials and records.
NRS 240.197 permits up to $25 for specified electronic acknowledgments, jurats, oaths, or affirmations. Explain any other lawful charges in advance.
Expiration follows the traditional commission
Electronic registration runs with the underlying Nevada appointment and is renewed at the same time. Loss, suspension, or expiration of the traditional commission affects electronic authority.
Coordinate both renewal tracks before accepting future remote appointments.
